Incase you did, the answer will come in this thread.
BMW Sweden arranged a driver training for the owners of the E60 M5 and E63 M6. How did I end up there then? Well, a good friend of mine just took delivery of his E60 M5 and was wondering if I wanted to join him, which was one of the easier decisions i ever made :). I really had no idea of what to expect, and was I in for the treat of a lifetime. For being in November we are having extremely mild weather here in Sweden, the day started out a bit cloudy but ended up being a perfect autumn day as you can see in the pictures. We where the first to arrive (of course) despite having to fill up twice on the 420km short trip and we met up with West Coast racing and the representatives from BMW Sweden. After being introduced we got to look at one of the cars the team runs in STCC, witch was nice. This was about when it suddenly hit me, West Coast Racing was here at Mantorp Park raceway, nice PR I thought. Then a BMW 120d makes a quite rapid approach into the parking area with two smiling faces in the car, the car stops and out enters two famous faces. The instructors of the day turns out to be Swedish Touring Car Champions (STCC) Thed Björk (2nd place) and Rickard Göransson (1st place) from West Coast Racing (BMW Dealer Team). It was then I knew that this would be a great day. E60 after E60 arrives and the numbers are growing, Silverstone II was very well represented, a few Sapphire Black, a couple of Interlagos Blue, one Seprang Bronze and one witch I suspect was Carbon Black. Nice gathering, 24 cars in total. That´s a lot of V10´s. While the drivers was getting a briefing by Thed and Richard I took the opportunity to take some pictures while the cars were stationary. Breyton 21" rims that remind me of the E39 M5 wheels combined with a healthy lowering it looks quite nice: ![]() ![]() Hartge 21" with the same lowering does look nice as well: ![]() The Seprang Bronze car did stand out of the crowd, a very beautiful car: ![]() Interlagos Blue with Hartge lowering and Hartge 21" rims looks very aggressive: ![]() ![]() Sapphire Black is a nice color, this is the car we drove to the meet and yes, it´s faster then my e39 540 :): ![]() This was a quite odd BMW Emblem and bootlid, I never got around to asking the owner what it was about: ![]() There was one E63 M6 that showed up quite briefly, but I managed to take a picture of it:

Before taking the cars out to the track Thed Björk (left) and Richard Göransson (right) had a look at the cars all lined up ready to go:
![]() This is how I imagine heaven in my wildest dreams: ![]() All lined up in the pitlane getting ready to go out: ![]() Making their way around the track making stops so that Thed and Richard could tell the drivers what to do and what not to do. Quite a funny image with a 120d leading a pack of M5´s around a racetrack: After a few laps of getting to know the car and the track...: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by BeastPower; 11-13-2005 at 12:21 PM. |

A few owners decided to let the hair down and put on a show...:
![]() ![]() Keep in mind that this car is running expensive 21" tires: Poetry in motion: ![]() These guys where not messing around, they wanted to push their M´s; one even managed to turn his into a tripod :): The recovery of the day (that I was able to capture) went to this driver who got really... really sideways... and still managed to bring it back, a job well done: A few cars did light up the tires in beautiful white smoke :): ![]() ![]()

![]() Instructor Thed Björk showing the owner (passenger) how it´s done: ![]() To answer the question asked in the title, this is what 12,168bhp looks like: ![]() It`s not a common thing to see 24 E60 M5 in one place in the same time. This was a truly great day and i would like to thank BMW M, BMW Sweden, West Coast Racing, Thed Björk, Richard Göransson and of course all of the owners of these great cars for making this unique event possible. The only thing I regret is spending so much time taking pictures that I actually missed the chance to get a ride with either Mr. Björk or Mr. Göransson behind the wheel. This is a pic I took at a STCC event this year, BMW and West Coast Racing showing the competition how it´s done: ![]() Last edited by BeastPower; 11-14-2005 at 10:59 PM. |

I'm a newbie here, so please be kind to me... Great board!
The "odd emblem" you were wondering about is the original BMW Motorsport logo from back in the late '70's. IIRC, it was initially used on the 3.O CSL's.
