Default 1998 540i/6 steering and suspension

hey guys,
I got my car about 2 months ago, and have no idea how the previous owner maintained it.After riding it for a while,I discovered few problems with a suspension/steering.Both tires in the front and rear are worn out. When I had a mechanic check it, he said the reason the front tires are worn out because of a control/thrust arm being bent. And the rear because of excess weight. Now,when i looked at it myself the control/thrust arm looked just fine to me.Also, the ride is kind of bumpy.Don't know whether that is the shocks, springs, bushings or whatever but the ride is definitely not soft and comfortable.Would gladly appreciate any feedback.
thanks,
MO

Welcome to the forum.

I would start with changing the bushings to Powerflex (click HERE). I doubt that the control/thrust arm is bent unless the car was previously in an accident, but you may want to take the car to another mechanic for a second opinion, and to check the condition of the suspension bushings. Overall, I think that a good mechanic will be able to diagnose what is wrong. You may want to check the installer subforum for some recommended shops (click HERE).

Cheers, Daniel.
