Next on my list was to replace the worn transmission mounts. These are used to support the transmission, and since they are made of rubber, tend to wear over time. I could have used a new stock transmission mount, but BimmerWorld suggested that I purchase the stronger 5-series mounts that can use used on the M3. If I recall correctly, the mechanic had to slightly drill out the mounting hole in the transmission mounting brace so that the larger bolt thread of the 5-series bushings would fit. This is a simple modification to the brace. You will also need to source larger mounting nuts to attach the new 5-series mounts.
